Belouch (Baluch) rugs are woven by the nomadic Baluch tribes who range across the deserts of the Afghan-Persian borderlands, and they have a character all their own: dark, rich and intimate. Working in deep blues, browns and a glowing madder red, often with camel-hair grounds, Baluch weavers produced small, finely worked rugs, saddle bags and, above all, some of the most beautiful of all tribal prayer rugs.
Their subtle, sombre palette and fine tribal designs make Belouch rugs a quiet favourite among collectors of nomadic weaving.
