European Art Deco and mid-century rugs capture the boldest decades of twentieth-century design. In 1920s and 30s France, artist-designers broke with tradition to produce carpets of bold geometry, asymmetry and confident colour — the Art Deco look — while the post-war years brought the clean, graphic simplicity of mid-century modern design across France, Scandinavia and beyond.
Many carry the look, and sometimes the names, of the era's leading designers, and they bring genuine design pedigree and colour to a modern interior. These are quite distinct from Chinese Art Deco rugs, which reflect Chinese motifs and a different market.
