Farahan rugs are elegant, finely drawn Persian carpets from the Farahan plain north of Arak, an area that produced some of the most refined village weaving of the nineteenth century. They are best known for the small, repeating Herati (fish) design and for a distinctive, sophisticated palette that often pairs soft blues and greens with rich red.
The most prized are the antique Sarouk-Farahan pieces, which combine Farahan refinement with Sarouk durability.
